A woman is being flown to a second Queensland hospital after suffering critical injuries in a horror crash on the outskirts of Kingaroy early Monday.

The woman, of unknown age, was travelling south along Kingaroy Cooyar Rd about 7am when her car left the road and crashed into a tree about 10km south of the city centre, leaving her trapped in the wreckage.

Fireys worked for 40 minutes to free her, cutting the door off the vehicle to allow paramedics to treat her.

A QAS spokeswoman said she suffered injuries to her head, legs, arms and pelvis in the crash.

She was taken to Kingaroy Hospital by road, and was expected to be flown to as-yet-unidentified hospital for further treatment.
