Tributes have flowed for beloved community volunteer and South Burnett Citizen of the Year Joan Adams after she was tragically killed in a farm accident.
Ms Adams died on June 10, with daughter Meschelle Martin made the heartbreaking announcement.
“RIP mum, you will be missed by so many family and friends you have made over the years,” she said.
Ms Adams served for years as Murgon Show Society president, before leaving the area to work with the volunteering organisation BlazeAid.
Fellow volunteer Ron Murphy remembered Ms Adams as a great friend.
“Her help, friendliness and great humour were unbeatable,” he said.
“You will be sadly missed Joan. She leaves not only her daughter and family but also great friends all over Australia.
“RIP Joan, you will always be remembered.”
In January 2015, Ms Adams was named South Burnett Citizen of the Year.
The awards night compere John Carey described Ms Adams as “part Jamie Oliver, part Santa and part Mother Teresa with a good amount of farmer thrown in”.
“She has lived in the South Burnett all her life and has risen above personal difficulties time and time again to make sure her beloved South Burnett is a better place for current and future generations,” he said.
A cattle farmer and piggery manager, Ms Adams was heavily involved in the organisation and delivery of the Tablelands Markets and the Murgon Monthly markets.
She was a member of the Proston QCWA, Tablelands Public Hall Committee, Porcelett‘s and the South Burnett Wildlife Carers.
