Zac Douglass qualifies for 2023 National Futsal Schools Competition in Fiji

A rising futsal star from Nanango will help represent Australia at the National Futsal Schools Competition in Fiji later this year.

Zac was awarded his Australia jersey on Friday morning by councillor Jane Erkens at a celebratory presentation at Nanango.

A determined young Nanango athlete has qualified to represent Australia at the National Futsal Schools Competition in Fiji.

Zac Douglass began playing futsal only two years ago and performed exceptionally well, recently catching the eye of a junior competition scout.

The 9-year-old Nanango State School student was awarded his Australia jersey on Friday morning by councillor Jane Erkens at a celebratory presentation at Nanango.

Zac’s mother Kristy Douglass said he loves the fast paced and technical aspects of the game.

“He loves the team spirit,” Mrs Douglass said.

Zac was awarded his Australian jersey on Friday morning by councillor Jane Erkens at a celebratory presentation at Nanango.

“We as parents are most proud of his own determination and sacrifice with training.

“His natural ability and hard work has paid off and he has the opportunity of a lifetime,” she said.

An Australian Futsal Association spokesman said Zac has achieved extraordinary achievements on the field.

“He has made the South Burnett District proud by performing exceptionally well,” a spokesman said.

“This is a momentous occasion for him,” he said.

Futsal liaison Karl Kaye said Zach is both an inspiration to young and established athletes alike.

“His dedication and hard work has paid off,” Mr Kaye said.

Zach will compete at the competition in Fiji from July 17 2023 to July 27 2023.
