State Treasurer Cameron Dick was on the Fraser Coast on Friday to announce a $60million multi-storey, 550 space car park at Hervey Bay Hospital and other expenditures across the Wide Bay.
“A new multi-storey car park at Hervey Bay will relieve a lot of stress for people who are already going through challenging times with their health, or the health of someone they love,” Mr Dick said.
“It will be an essential part of a growing hospital which is currently going through a $82.3 million expansion as part of Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service’s $1.9 billion health infrastructure spend.
“The Big Build keeps Queensland moving forward with meaningful projects at a time when cost-of-living pressures are impacting on every household,” he said.
A spokesman for the treasurer said the state government had invested $200 million into Australia’s largest publicly owned wind farm at Tarong West and $183.7 million toward design and exploratory works for the Borumba Pumped Hydro Energy project.

“The Palaszczuk Government is continuing to invest in education and will provide $56.1 million to maintain, improve and upgrade schools in the region to ensure all students had access to world class education,” a spokesman said.
“Recreation and culture investments in the Budget include $2.9million for a major upgrade of the Central Station day use area at K’gari and $1 million to upgrade visitor infrastructure at the Bunya Mountains National Park,” he said.
Hervey Bay Labor MP Adrian Tantari said as construction continued on the $82.3million expansion, it was wonderful to see money and planning underway for the next step.
“This car park will ease a lot of pressure of those who rely on the hospital regularly, while also creating a more user-friendly approach to accessing the hospital for patients,” Mr Tantari said.
