The owner of a popular country pub has apologised to customers and musicians left in the lurch following its sudden and snap closure.

A possession notice was taped to the door of the Palace Hotel on Drayton St, Nanango - which was popular for families, pool players and those wanting to see live music - this week.

Manager Andrew Reid confirmed via a Facebook post that the hotel had closed down.

“We apologise to anyone who had bookings and for anyone who has pre paid for Christmas lunch,” Mr Reid wrote.

“Sorry everyone that we couldn't make it work, we did try our hardest.”

Mr Reid claimed the closure was due to a disagreement over bill payments.

He said he was surprised to see the possession notice taped to the door, which he claimed went up while he was asleep. .

“The musicians weren't given much notice as I only found out on Tuesday afternoon myself,” Mr Reid told the South Burnett Times.

“I went home and went to bed the next morning my phone is blowing up with messages and calls.

“That’s when I got a message with the repossession notice.

“The residents who were living there have been taken care of.”

Nanango musician Tony Cisneros was booked to play at the hotel on Friday and said he was out of pocket $300 because of the sudden closure.

“I haven't heard from any management this week, so is the Palace Hotel Nanango closed?” he wrote on Facebook.

“We had a show booked this Friday night but it’s not looking too promising, we hope everything is OK and any updates or factual news would be really appreciated.”
