A family of five escaped a horrific crash without serious injuries after their trailer disconnected and slammed into the side of their car, causing it to flip and land in an embankment.

The Blake family, of Hivesville, is pleading for the community’s help following the December 14 crash on the Wide Bay Highway.

Miraculously, they were left with no serious injuries after the crash but did sustain seatbelt burn marks, cuts, a dislocated finger and bruising.

The car was completely flattened and written off, leaving Ashley and Linda Blake without a car to transport their 10-year-old triplets with disabilities.

Mrs Blake said they required assistance from passing drivers to be removed from the car which was upside down.

“We spent the night at Kingaroy Hospital and had ultrasounds to check for internal injuries,” Mrs Blake said.

The Blakes started a GoFundMe page to raise funds for a new vehicle to transport their children, Tywin, Phoenix and Indica, to essential weekly occupational therapy at Gympie.

Mrs Blake said she and her husband were on carer pensions and never ones to ask for help.

“Indica and Phoenix are autistic and Phoenix suffers microcephaly, she is tiny and it affects her muscles, bowels and she has trouble with writing as it hurts her hands,” Mrs Blake said.

“Tywin is ADHD and has a sensory processing disorder.

“Finances are tight and the pensions limit our lending ability but for the most part we make do and manage quite well from day to day, until something like this happens.”

The family moved to Hivesville in 2020 and live on a property in two caravans. They are in the process of building their own kitchen.

The family car originally belonged to Wondai born country musician Chad Morgan, who toured in it during the early 2000s.
