Chilling texts Kingaroy man sent to ex, breaching DV order
Shocking messages sent from a young Kingaroy dad to his ex were exposed in court as a police prosecutor described domestic violence as an “insidious problem”

Aggressive text messages where a Kingaroy dad threatened to slit a man’s throat have been revealed in court.
A 29-year-old Kingaroy man pleaded guilty to seven charges of breaching a domestic violence order which occurred from October 2 to October 8, 2023.
Kingaroy Magistrates Court was told the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had a domestic violence order taken out against him by his 19-year-old partner in August, 2023.
The court heard that on October 2, the victim sent the man a picture of their child in the bathtub.
He replied warning the woman not to let her new partner touch their child.
Prosecutor Barry Stevens read some of the messages in court including one that said “don’t let him touch our child or I’ll slit his throat”.
“Yeah, that’s right, ignore me, I’ll come and shoot your house up c—t,” Mr Stevens read.
The court heard the victim then blocked the man on Snapchat.
The next day the man sent seven text messages, some verbally abusing the victim.
On October 4 he sent 72 text messages and called the victim 33 times.
On October 5 the man continued to send the victim messages.
He sent 90 text messages, called 28 times and sent multiple TikTok videos and picture messages to her phone.
The court was told the victim asked him to stop contacting her.
Mr Stevens said the man replied to her in a message which said he missed her and “still love you”.
Over the next two days the man sent the victim 130 text messages until the victim went to the police to make a complaint.
“Domestic violence is a serious and insidious problem in our society,” Mr Stevens said.
The man’s defence lawyer said he had taken steps to better himself so he could spend more quality time with his young child.
Magistrate Andrew Sinclair emphasised the seriousness of domestic violence in the community
“I send more people to prison for domestic violence than probably everything else combined,” the magistrate said.
The magistrate sentenced the man to a probation order, supervised for 18 months.
Convictions were recorded.
