A boozy driving supervisor was more than four times over the legal alcohol limit when she allowed an L-plater to take her home after a night out.

Charlotte Florence Denson, 41, pleaded guilty in Murgon Magistrates Court to one count of being under the influence of liquor while in charge of a vehicle.

Police prosecutor Barry Stevens said Denson was intercepted by police on March 20 while supervising a learner driver at 4.55pm.

“Blowing an extremely high alcohol reading of 0.267, the defendant was slurring her speech and admitted to having a couple of bottles of fruit wine,” Sergeant Stevens said.

Defence lawyer Babu Singh said his client was remorseful.

“She did have a few drinks and chose to get a lift home from Murgon with a learner driver,” Mr Singh said.

“Little did she know it would affect the L-plater.”

Magistrate Andrew Sinclair described the case as “unusual”.

“You were giving less than ideal supervision,” Mr Sinclair said.

Denson’s early plea of guilty was taken into consideration.

She was disqualified from driving for six months and fined $500.

Convictions were recorded.
