A man tragically killed in a truck crash in western Queensland has been described by his family as someone who was “full of life” and “deserved so much more”.

Robert Ferris, 28, was driving his water truck just outside Chinchilla last week when it rolled and sadly could not be saved.

His shattered siblings have described him as “funny” and “full of love” and spoke of their disbelief that he was gone.

“Growing up he was always the funny kid, always dancing around and singing and that’s what he was like up until he passed away,” his eldest sister Jessica Beller said.

“You could see the love that he had for everyone. I’ve got photos of him with my children, and he’s just so in love.”

The family grew up together in NSW, however Mr Ferris moved to Tara in western Queensland several years ago where he got his truck licence and started driving trucks for work.

“He loved his job, he just really enjoyed it,” Ms Beller said.

Ms Beller said they were a very close knit family.

“Growing up we only had each other to rely on, so we were all very close and connected … and we’re all trying to keep each other uplifted in this situation,” she said.

“He was always talking about having kids ... he’s always loved his nieces and nephews - he always had time for them and played with them.”

Mr Ferris’ younger sister Clarissa Ferris, 27, said her heart breaks every day that her brother was not there.

“Life feels unfair and a little unbalanced now that he’s gone,” she said.

“It feels not real, like we’re all just waiting on a call that sadly we’ll never get.”

His other sister Brianna Smith described him as her “best friend growing up” and said she would make sure he “lived on in everyone’s memories”.

Ms Beller added while she was “completely broken” the family would continue to share Mr Ferris’ memory with their own children.

“We all have a lot of memories with him and we plan to continue sharing that with our children, telling them how he was and how much he appreciated life.

“I just want my kids to know uncle Robert loved them,” she said.
