A South East Queensland woman has told of the harrowing moment she heard the sound of the crash that killed her husband from their home, as she pays tribute to the avid motorcyclist and issues a plea to other road users.

Dylan Stokes had been riding his motorcycle when he died after a collision with a silver Nissan Dualis along Burpengary Rd at Narangba, about 7pm.

Mr Stokes’ wife, Alana, says she was home at the time of the crash and heard the bang.

She said he was going to the IGA for super glue and never made it home.

“I heard the bang. It was a minute away from home,” Ms Stokes said.

Mr Stokes was a stepfather to Ms Stokes’ son Elijah, 11.

“Dylan is his step dad. He took to being his step dad amazingly. We got married on May 13 2023 and he passed on Friday 13 September,” Ms Stokes said.

“Dylan was so amazing, as our neighbours would say he was the neighbourhood watch man as he would spend so much time in the garage working on his bike or fixing something or making something.”

The driver of the Nissan, a 21-year-old Caboolture man, and his passenger, a 21-year-old Caboolture woman, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

They are continuing to assist police with their inquiries.

“I just want people to check for motorbikes and double check before pulling out of a side street,” Ms Stokes said.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Ms Stokes’ friend Meagan Wilkes to raise funds to farewell Dylan.

“My good friend Alana. Lost her husband last night the 13th September 2024, only 16 months to the date of their marriage,” the page said.

“He was involved in a motorbike accident. He didn’t make it home to his wife Alana and Elijah. He will be sadly missed. Alana is now a single mother. Please help her to farewell her newly married husband. And to help financially support her and Elijah.”
