Hundreds of people have gathered to farewell the young woman killed in a horrifying series of alleged carjackings on the Bruce Highway last month.

More than 300 people paid tribute to Jocelyn Grace Mollee, 22, at a ceremony at Nissan Arena on Brisbane’s southside on Friday after she died on April 21 in a horrific six-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway at Palmview.

Jocelyn’s friends, siblings, mother and aunt and uncle spoke about the beautiful person she had become with a love of reading, travelling and hanging with her loved ones.

Her siblings Imogen and Joseph Mollee spoke about how they were all meant to be together until the end and that although their paths were different, they would meet again.

Imogen said having a sibling who you are close to was one of the most precious gifts in life.

“It’s meant to be the longest relationship you’ll ever know, stretching from our first memories to our very last,” she said.

“It’s a connection that defies time and space, anchoring us, even when life pulls us in different directions. Being a sibling isn’t just about sharing a roof. It’s an all inclusive journey. It’s growing up side-by-side, collecting inside jokes like souvenirs and building a library of memories that only we can understand.”

She said even though life had shifted in ways they didn’t expect, the memories would never fade.

“They’re still there. In a keep safe. Tucked safely to be opened when we both need it. I think about all the mornings last year, we sat together on the bus to uni talking about anything and everything,” she said.

“All the times we were little, when we would sing Taylor Swift in the car and blow mum’s ears off.

“You will still be there for me in the big moments, still be the one I turned to, when mum’s being logical and I just need someone to listen. You will still laugh with me at night when we should be sleeping.

“Everything will be as it should.”

Joseph said he was blessed with his own magic trio – his two sisters and himself – something he was very grateful for.

“To be gifted with two older sisters with so much wisdom and patience is truly blessed. It makes me proud of the person I am today. And it also pains me to know part of my own trio waits for me at the end,” he said.

“Jocelyn has and always will be the embodiment of life. She carried herself. with grace and humility and joy.”

“She will always be someone I look up to. A role model in which I will embrace as I move through life.”

Joseph said wherever he ended up he knew his sister would be waiting for him at a tea party.

“We will meet in a quiet corner in a cafe filled with books to read,” he said.

“Holding flowers, the birds will sing and the golden sun will warm us as we catch up on all the things we have missed about each other while we’ve been apart. I will tell her I love her and she will tell me she loves me too.

“Love is the most precious thing on this earth.”

Jocelyn’s boyfriend Ben spoke about how he first met Jocelyn at his best friend’s 18th birthday.

“I saw her sitting alone and decided she wasn’t having enough fun, she hadn’t met me yet,” he said.

“So I proceeded to go over and have a conversation and talked to her, and I found out she came from the Sunny Coast and she was a very highly academic achiever.”

Ben said he left that night not getting her contact but thinking “I will find her again”.

“Two days later I was lucky enough to get a message from her where I proceeded to go and drag her to our first date,” he said.

“To a horror movie which I later found out she was terrified of. Jocelyn as a person was warmer than any sun and shone brighter than any star in the sky.

“There aren’t really enough words throughout all the languages to describe the amazing person she was, and what she meant to us all.”

“It’s these connections and special memories that we all have with her that make her who she was and the fact that she’s not here will always be hard but you’re forever in our hearts.”

Her mother Amanda Chippendale said she filled the home with life, grace, joy, laughter.

“Jocelyn Grace, you changed my world in so many unexpected ways,” she said.

“You taught me about life, love and faith. I know you are in a better place with my dad. Over the years and through the heartbreakingly beautiful journey that is life you gave me the reason to be strong and search for joy in every ordinary day. I love you beyond measure.

“I always encouraged you to follow your dreams as life is short and the world is wide. However, you were the one to find courage to make so many memories and chase your dreams.”

Ms Chippendale said the bond between mother and daughter could never be broken.

“Although our life journey has pulled us apart, you will always be in my heart, because that is where your story will forever live,” she said.
