Man, 40s, crushed by road roller in horror workplace accident along on Warrego Hwy at Roma

A road worker aged in his 40s has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after he was crushed by heavy machinery in a horror accident along the Warrego Highway.

A road worker has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition after he was reportedly crushed by a road roller in a workplace accident at Roma.

Emergency crews were called to the incident along the Warrego Highway at 11.23am on Saturday morning, a Queensland Ambulance spokesman said.

The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Roma Hospital with serious pelvic and leg injuries.

He was then flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition, under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic.

A Workplace Health and Safety spokesman said inquiries are currently being made into the incident with the help of Queensland Police.
