Jodie Taylor appointed Chief Executive Officer of Western Downs Regional Council

After a rigorous recruitment process, Western Downs Regional Council has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer to head the organisation forward for the next five years.

Western Downs Regional Council has appointed Jodie Taylor as the new CEO to take the organisation forward for the next five years.

Mrs Taylor, who has served as acting CEO since her predecessor Ross Musgrave called it quits in August, was officially appointed to the role at the ordinary meeting on Wednesday following a rigorous recruitment process.

Mayor Paul McVeigh said the appointment signified a new era of leadership in the region.

“CEO Taylor brings a wealth of local knowledge, experience, and capacity to communicate and engage with staff, businesses and the broader community,“ Cr McVeigh said.

“Western Downs Regional Council is one of the strongest performing regional councils in the state, so it was vital for the committee to select the best candidate to lead the organisation, and CEO Taylor certainly fits the bill.

“As Mayor of the Western Downs, I am very pleased to see Jodie Taylor take the organisation forward and I am excited to work alongside her to deliver a fantastic future for the Western Downs.”

Mrs Taylor has more than 25 years of experience in local government under her belt and has worked for WDRC for the past 15 years.

She said she was extremely proud and honoured by the appointment.

“I am deeply honoured to have the trust of the Mayor and councillors to lead the organisation and deliver for the Western Downs community over the coming years,“ Mrs Taylor said.

“I am excited to bring new energy to the role and use my knowledge of the region to achieve great outcomes for the community by delivering on council’s strategic priorities under its corporate plan.

“I will be drawing on my experience in local government and my strengths in driving economic development to support the continued growth and diversity of our wonderful community.

“Western Downs Regional Council is made up of so many incredible people who share my love for the region I call home, and I am excited to lead staff and contribute to a stronger future for our community.”
