The Victoria Parade roadworks along Rockhampton’s riverbank have been causing headaches for many residents and commuters for months - but there is good news.
The work, which has been undertaken by Rockhampton Regional Council work crews, is due to be completed by the beginning of August.
The work being carried out is to installing electrical conduits with the residential side of the footpath, so that the overhead powerlines can be relocated.
The construction has meant traffic has had to be reduced to one lane and in one direction.
The project was originally due be completed by the end of July, 2022, and Rockhampton Regional Council told this publication this week, the major constructions would be completed by the first week of August with some minor works to continue.
A number of readers have complained about major delays in the works and the council confirmed this has been due to wet weather and staff shortages from Covid.
The Victoria Parade works were funded from $1.7m in Federal Government funding from the Local Road and Community Infrastructure Program and $300,000 from council’s coffers.
