Debbie Dark will step back from her long-running service to the Rockhampton and District Motocross Club on a high.
The nationally accredited race secretary oversaw the successful staging of the 2022 KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championships at the club’s Six Mile Raceway.
A field of 310 riders from across Australia and New Zealand competed in 12 classes at the four-day event which wrapped up on October 1.
It was the first time the championships had been held in Rockhampton - and RADMX certainly delivered.
Dark said she could not be happier with how it all went after the event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid.
“The major sponsor KTM said this event would go down as one of the best in the history of AJMX and that is a moment our club is really proud of,” she said.

“All the feedback from riders, parents, team managers and sponsors was this was a well-organised and epic event.
“Everyone loved what our club delivered.
“Every aspect of the event was fantastic and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
“The riders found the track challenging and technical and the way it developed over the four days of racing, we really produced some true champions. The riders who won really had to work hard to earn their places on the podium.”

Dark said as well as it being a major coup for the club, it was a “huge personal achievement”.
A glitch in a newly introduced registration system meant it became a manual process, dramatically increasing her workload.
“It took about six weeks of every waking moment to get sorted but we got there in the end,” she said.
“I’m done now, I’m stepping back from club work, so these championships were a very special way to go out.”
Dark has been race secretary of RADMX since 2011 and its treasurer for the past six years.
Her dedication earned her a place in Rockhampton’s 50 most influential sports personalities compiled earlier this year by The Morning Bulletin.
