Serious crash on Landsborough Highway near Longreach

New details have emerged after a mother and son were killed in a serious crash on the highway near Longreach on Wednesday morning.

A mother and son have both been killed after another horror crash on Queensland roads on Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle crash 40km west of Longreach in the Central West just after 9am where paramedics treated a man and woman, both in critical conditions.

The man, aged 50, and his mother, 72, were travelling from Winton on the Landsborough Highway when they lost control of their vehicle.

Fire crews tried to free the man, who was trapped under the vehicle, from the wreckage, but he sadly died at the scene.

The woman was taken to Longreach Hospital with critical injuries but died shortly after.

The road was closed for some time following the crash.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.

The crash near Longreach comes a day after two men were killed in a truck crash at Wowan on Tuesday.

Another person was feared dead and three were injured in a crash in Rockhampton on Wednesday afternoon.
