Professionals Emu Park principal Kevin Doolan wins state awards

An award-winning Central Queensland real estate agent says a beachside town on the Capricorn Coast has been on an extended property boom since Covid. See what you can get from just $600,000.

A Capricorn Coast real estate agent who has been in the industry for 49 years recently won four state gongs and been named a finalist for international awards.

Professionals Emu Park principal Kevin Doolan won Top Office – Tier 1, Top Principal, Top Office Listings – Tier 1 and the National Platinum Achiever Award at the recent annual Professionals State Conference and Awards in Brisbane.

He said the Emu Park property market was going very strong in 2023, with people from Sunshine Coast, New South Wales and Victoria still moving to the area.

He said Emu Park, along with the rest of the Capricorn Coast, had been on an extended property boom since Covid.

“Covid hit and more Queenslanders started to explore Queensland, including Emu Park,” he said.

“Then, after the state borders were opened again, the Victorians found out about our town and I am still getting phone calls from across the country. “It hasn’t slowed one bit.

“It is the best sustained period of strong demand I have ever experienced in near 50 years here.”

He said there had also been some good sales on the Capricorn Coast in 2023, including a record sale in Zilzie with 18 Amoria Ave selling for $3.25 million in June.

Mr Doolan was also advised he was a finalist for the Professionals International Awards which will be announced in Melbourne on October 22.

He said the recent win was a team effort.

“I’ve got a great team,” he said.

“They are very loyal and very passionate about their business and very good with their customer service. We pride ourselves on customer service and looking after our clients.

“It’s a lot of hard work and it paid off.

“I think if you love the work, you will be successful at it.”

Mr Doolan, who has been based in Emu Park since 1974, has been celebrated for his hard work in the past, winning several awards in 2021, including a prestigious Top Principal National Award.

“I’ve got a great customer base and a lot of loyal clients,” he said.

“The people of Emu Park have supported me over the years and we have put back into the community too.

“It is just a beautiful place possessing its own unique charm. Once you visit it, it does make you question, why leave.

“Possibly explains why I have always stayed here.”

STRONG GROWTH IN EMU PARK

The region’s peak tourism and economic development organisation, Capricorn Enterprise, confirmed the strong growth in Emu Park.

Capricorn Enterprise chief executive officer Mary Carroll said earlier this year, the Regional Movers Index revealed the Capricorn Coast (Livingstone Shire) topped the list in the top five local government areas for greatest growth in net inflows from capitals.

“It saw a near six-fold increase in net migration inflows from the capitals in the 12 months to March 2023,” she said.

“The most recent ABS statistics reveal Emu Park has experienced a cumulative population growth of 6.5 per cent over the five years from 2017 to 2022, with 1.3 per cent growth per annum.

“Livingstone Shire has experienced a 1.8 per cent population growth per annum, which is higher than the 1.6 per cent growth across Queensland. The resident population of the shire, which is currently sitting at 40,952, is expected to reach 63,000 by 2046.

“While the majority of the population growth on the Capricorn Coast is in Yeppoon with a 2.3 per cent annual growth rate, Emu Park will continue to appeal to new residents with its seaside charm.

“Emu Park is known and loved for its beautiful village lifestyle which will continue with sensible and sustainable growth.”
