From a traffic controller busted at almost three times the limit to an unlicensed mum nabbed on a trail bike, here is the latest list of people busted offending behind the wheel.

Yeppoon residents are failing to heed the dangers of dangerous antics behind the wheel, with a string of offenders sentenced throughout December.

From a young woman busted almost three times the legal limit to a man slapped with an eye-watering fine for driving with drugs in his system, here is the full list of the region’s most recent offenders.

Yeppoon Magistrates Court, December 15

Megan Renee Barton, 24

Megan Renee Barton was almost three times the legal limit when she committed her first ever drink driving offence.

The 24-year-old recorded a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.134 when she was nabbed on Park Street, Yeppoon, on November 26.

Barton, who works as a traffic controller and had no similar history, was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for six months.

Laura Jane Elizabeth Harvey, 29

Laura Jane Elizabeth Harvey was caught driving while disqualified by a court order on Adelaide Park Road, Yeppoon, on November 3.

Police prosecutor Stacey Bain said police caught Harvey riding a trail bike.

The court heard that Harvey, a mother of receiving Centrelink payments, was due to get her driver’s licence back in May next year.

Magistrate Cameron Press ordered Harvey to complete 80 hours of unpaid community service and disqualified her from driving for two years, which is to be served on top of her current disqualification.

Tegan Linda Singleton, 24

Tegan Linda Singleton recorded a BAC of 0.109 when she was caught drink driving on Farnborough Road, Yeppoon, on December 2.

Singleton told magistrate Cameron Press she was a single mum and didn’t usually drink alcohol, and said her father had since taken her car from her.

Mr Press fined her $550 and disqualified her from driving for four months.

Yeppoon Magistrates Court, December 8

Brandon Shane Roberts, 24

Brandon Shane Roberts had his licence suspended through SPER when he was intercepted driving along Farnborough Road, Yeppoon, at 1.45am on November 5.

Roberts pleaded guilty to driving without a licence.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Kevin Ongheen said checks revealed Roberts’ was SPER suspended from November 2, 2022 to August 16, 2023.

Sergeant Ongheen said Roberts told police he was driving home from the pokies and giving friends a lift because they couldn’t find transportation.

Defence lawyer Ken Spinaze said his client, who was deployed to Iraq after joining the military out of high school, was unaware he was suspended.

Roberts was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Yeppoon Magistrates Court, December 1

Brooklyn Semesi Dave, 18

P-plater Brooklyn Semesi Dave recorded a BAC of 0.037 when he was caught drink driving on Appleton Drive, Yeppoon, on October 29.

Solicitor Krissy Cummins said Dave lived in Brisbane but was currently working in Central Queensland as a scaffolding labourer.

Acting Magistrate Ron Muirhead fined Dave, who had no prior offending of this sort, $400 and disqualified him from driving for three months.

Hunter Michael Decman, 23

P-plater Hunter Michael Decman was caught drug driving and speeding on September 6.

Police prosecutor Mirren Smith said highway patrol officers from Mackay were travelling on the Bruce Highway when they detected Decman driving south at 135km/h.

He was intercepted and tested positive to marijuana in his system.

The court heard that Decman had a drink driving offence on his history in the past five years.

Decman was fined $1900 and disqualified from driving for three months.
