A woman has escaped serious injury after the car she was driving was written off in a frightening late-night crash with a huge wild boar in Central Queensland on Wednesday.
The woman was driving a red Peugeot 308 on Yeppoon to Rockhampton Road when she came to grief about 10pm, just before Access 7 at Limestone Creek.
Police were called to the crash scene, however Queensland Ambulance Service had no record of attending, suggesting the female driver had a lucky escape.
“A female driver hit a large wild boar and has written the vehicle off,” a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.
“A car has stopped to assist and they managed to get the animal off the road.
“If she (Peugeot driver) helped get the pig off the road, I assume she wasn’t injured.”
The wild boar did not survive the collision and at 11.45am on Thursday, it was still on the side of the road.
Close by on the opposite side of the road, off the roadway, sat the extensively damaged Peugeot which had a “Police Aware” sticker on it.
