Drink drivers, unlicensed drivers who faced Yeppoon Magistrates Court

A man who rolled his car into a table drain was just one of the the latest round of drink drivers to face Yeppoon court. See the full list.

The following people pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on November 17 to traffic offences.

Drink-driving

Aaron Hugh Smith, 47

Aaron Hugh Smith was charged with drink driving after rolling his car into a table drain at on Emu Park Road.

Smith recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.082 after police attended the single-vehicle rollover at 12.30pm on October 22.

The court was told the 47-year-old had an eight-page traffic history with one similar in the past five years.

A self-represented Smith told magistrate Philippa Beckinsale he was the prime carer of two children and was “very sorry”

He was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Riley James Dexter, 19

P-plater Riley James Dexter was caught driving with alcohol in his system on Park Street, Yeppoon, on October 30.

The 19-year-old returned a BAC of 0.048.

Dexter, who had no previous traffic history, was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Natasha Louise Green, 41

Natasha Louise Green was more than four times the legal limit when she was busted for her third drink driving offence in five years.

Green recorded a BAC of 0.207 when stopped on Cedar Ave, Taranganba, on October 6.

The court heard the 41-year-old was also busted in 2018 and 2019, but she told the court she had made “significant changes” to address her alcohol problem.

She was fined $1950 and disqualified from driving for one year.

James Paul Pirrone, 34

James Paul Pirrone recorded a BAC of 0.053 when he was caught drink-driving on the Scenic Highway on November 3.

The court heard the self-represented concreter had a previous drink-driving offence from last year.

Ms Beckinsale fined the 34-year-old $550 and disqualified him from driving for four months.

Unlicensed driving

Casey Joe Moorhouse, 43

Moorhouse was caught driving while demerit point suspended on the Burnett Highway at Jambin, on July 30.

The court heard that Moorhouse did not know that his driver’s licence was suspended at the time.

He was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for six months.
