A Central Queensland mother has fronted court for her role in an unusual case where a man was dumped outside a hospital with a gunshot wound and doused in petrol.

Tiarne Carmen Peta Fermor, 30, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton District Court last month to one count each of damaging evidence with intent, a drug supply, possessing a category D/H or R weapon, possessing drugs, illegal possession of explosives and buying or possessing a S4 or S8 medicine or hazardous poisons.

Crown prosecutor Monique Bros-Wilshire said Fermor was allegedly told by her then partner of his intentions to assault a male on November 16, 2022.

“It’s a few days later, on November 20, that a male person is dropped at Rockhampton Base Hospital, having sustained a gunshot wound, and (Fermor’s) car was captured in (CCTV) footage,” she said.

Judge Jeff Clarke said the injured man had also been doused in petrol.

Ms Fermor’s then partner, Anthony George Denis Butler, was charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm in company, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm or transmit disease and common assault from November 20, 2022.

The charges were declared nolle prosequi by Judge Clarke in the Rockhampton District Court on February 24, 2025.

When Fermor was before the court in June, Ms Bros-Wilshire said Fermor’s then partner and others took her car that night and returned it about 12.30am.

Judge Clarke said the men were not wearing shirts or shoes when they arrived back at Ms Fermor’s residence.

“They started removing things from the car when it pulled up at the front of (Fermor’s) place at the early hours of the morning,” he said.

Ms Bros-Wilshire said Fermor heard the men talking and noticed blood inside the vehicle on the floor, door and in the cup holders.

Ms Bros-Wilshire said the defendant could also smell fuel and found grass on the back seat.

She said Fermor, allegedly with her partner, later that day, took the car to a car wash and pulled out the mats, cleaned the blood out of the car and wiped it down.

“She’s undertaken to take these tasks on herself to complete, and then she’s taken the car through the automatic car wash,” Ms Bros-Wilshire said.

Fermor purchased two new car mats, car deodoriser and wipes later that day and disposed of car mats.

Police arrested Fermor at Brunswick Hotel and then searched her residence, finding her in possession of a semi-automatic pistol, ammunition, marijuana, a jerry can, a rifle scope and five bottles of methadone.

Ms Bros-Wilshire said it was not alleged that Fermor owned the firearm; she just had it in her possession.

Defence barrister Nicholas Brown said his client told police where to find the firearm before they conducted their search.

Ms Bros-Wilshire said the drug supply evidence was Fermor’s admission to police that she supplied to her brother when he was visiting.

Mr Brown said his client has three children aged seven to 15, with some diagnosed with mental health and physical health issues, including Cushings Syndrome, autism and ADHD.

He said she has previously worked at the Frenchville Sports Club, Rockhampton Hospital, Mater Hospital, and as a cleaner at mines and Stanwell Quarry.

Judge Clarke said Fermor was on bail at the time for supplying drugs to a prisoner who was in Capricornia Correctional Centre at Etna Creek, north of Rockhampton.

She was sentenced for that offending in 2023 where it was heard she carried out the drug supply via a parcel drop in a toilet at Rockhampton Hospital.

Fermor was sentenced to 12 months prison, wholly suspended and operational for two years.

Judge Clarke then sentenced Fermor on June 16, 2025, to 12 months prison for damaging evidence charge, plus $1000 in fines for other offences.

He ordered convictions recorded for all offences and released Fermor immediately on parole.
