Susan Duffy is being remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, wife and friend who would do anything for anyone.

Sue, who was 71, was sadly killed in an alleged murder at her home in Allenstown on the afternoon of Sunday, August 21.

Her estranged son-in-law Portmoresbey “BJ” Cecil has been charged with her alleged murder and had his first appearance in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

Sue and her husband Daniel, known to many as Danny, have owned their West Street, Allenstown property, a few doors down from the Red Lion Hotel, for the past 35 years.

Neighbours were saddened and shocked to hear the news of Sue’s death as police began to investigate the circumstances surrounding it.

They described her as a lovely, kind woman who was dedicated to her family.

Sue and Danny were from Sydney in New South Wales and travelled around Australia with their children before settling at the Capricorn Coast and then in Rockhampton.

The family has been involved in the Central Queensland rugby league community for decades, and Danny was one of the leading figures involved in forming the Emu Park Rugby League Club in the 1980s.

Their son Gavin Duffy was a key player for Rockhampton Brothers Rugby League Club and also starred for the CQ Comets/Capras for many years in the Queensland Cup competition.
