Portmoresbey Cecil charged with alleged murder at Rockhampton home

A crime scene remains at a Rockhampton home this morning where a woman was found dead inside. Her alleged murderer is due to face court today.

Rockhampton man Portmoresbey (Bj) Cecil, 35, has been charged with murder and a crime scene remains set up at an Allenstown property after a woman died on Sunday afternoon.

Police were called to the West Street residence, just a few doors up from the Red Lion Hotel, about 3.50pm.

The body of a woman in her 70s, an owner of the property, was found, and a crime scene was established.

Multiple police officers and Criminal Investigation Branch officers attended the property and Operation Uniform Acca was launched to investigate the circumstances of the death.

Police confirmed a 35-year-old Frenchville man was was taken into custody and charged with one count of murder (domestic violence offence).

It is understood Mr Cecil allegedly drove himself to the Rockhampton Police Station after the alleged murder.

Scenes of crime officers were photographing and inspecting the SsangYong utility he left parked across the road from the police station on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Cecil is due to appear at Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

Police tape remains strewn across the road around the West Street residence and a police car was still on scene early on Monday morning.

At least nine police vehicles, six marked and three unmarked, along with two ambulances were on scene in West Street, Allenstown, at a home between the intersection of Oxford and Denham streets about 4pm on Sunday afternoon.
