Detectives make arrests after “serious” assaults at Kershaw Gardens

Detectives charge two teenagers after two men, one of them sleeping in a tent, were allegedly assaulted in a popular Rockhampton park on the weekend.

Police have charged two teenage boys following investigations into alleged assaults in North Rockhampton on Sunday, February 2.

Police allege that around 4.30am, two people approached a man sleeping in a tent in Kershaw Gardens and demanded property from him before physically assaulting him.

Police further allege the pair then approached a second man nearby and demanded property and physically assaulted him.

Both men sustained serious injuries and were transported to Rockhampton Hospital.

Following investigations by the Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch, detectives arrested two teenage boys in the Rockhampton area on February 5.

A 16-year-old Park Avenue boy has been charged with attempted armed robbery and armed robbery and is due to appear before Rockhampton Children’s Court on February 11.

A 15-year-old The Caves boy has been charged with armed robbery, attempted robbery, and attempted enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

He is due to appear before Rockhampton Children’s Court today, February 6.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said multiple paramedic units were called to the assaults and both men were taken in a stable condition, one with head and chest injuries, to Rockhampton Hospital.
