Emergency crews conducted an “extensive search” after arriving at an eerie crash scene between Rockhampton and Emu Park on Saturday morning.

Paramedics were called to the single-vehicle crash at Emu Park Road, Tungamull, at 6.59am, to find the crushed Toyota Prado but no driver.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a male patient was eventually found.

“We didn’t end up (taking him to hospital) until 10.10am - so, yeah there was quite an extensive search before we actually transported (him),” she said.

The ambulance spokeswoman said the male patient had head injuries and he was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.

His age was not yet known.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said there were no reports the car had been stolen, and investigations were ongoing.
