Lawyers representing a man accused of attempting to murder his wife will signal what move they will make next after receiving all the police evidence in the case.

Geoffrey Ernest White was 52 years old when he allegedly repeatedly stabbed his wife, Amy White, 38, at a Frenchville residence.

Emergency services were called to the Constantia Crescent, Frenchville, home just after 7pm on September 3.

Police will allege Ms White sustained cuts to her upper chest and neck but was able to call triple-zero herself before she was rushed to Rockhampton Hospital in a critical condition and underwent “life-saving surgery”.

Police will allege Mr White had been drinking the afternoon before the alleged stabbing incident.

Mr White was charged the following morning with attempted murder and is in custody at Maryborough Correctional Centre.

Rockhampton Magistrates Court heard an update of the case on May 15.

Defence lawyer Samantha Legrady said the full brief of evidence had now been disclosed by police prosecutors and she would conference with Mr White and a barrister next week.

The couple were married in 2013 and share two young children together.

Mr White’s charges will be next mentioned on May 29 where the court will hear what the defence lawyers plan to do next.

Mr White has been remanded in custody and he has not entered a plea.
