Rockhampton police charge 11 people in property crime blitz
Car theft, drink driving and drug possession are just some of the 45 charges “specialised police” doled out to 11 people over five days.

Eleven people have been charged with 45 different property drug-related offences following a recently property crime blitz in the Rockhampton region.
Between April 28 and May 2, the Property Crime Squad charged them with a number of offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted burglary, possession of drugs, break and enter, driving under influence, breach of bail and unlawful possession of weapons.
Police have alleged that on April 25 three people broke into a Kinchant Dam Rd property and stole a Holden Colorado, which was found by officers at the intersection of Quay and William Streets the following day.
A 22-year-old Norman Gardens man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs and enter premises.
He was due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 15.
In a separate incident on April 2, two men allegedly broke into a Clayton Rd property and stole a Ford Ranger.
Officers found and intercepted the allegedly stolen vehicle on Woodland Drive on May 2.
As a result, a 25-year-old man from The Range was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of contravene direction of a police officer.
He is set to reappear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 29.
Detective Inspector Luke Peachey from Rockhampton CIB said police had a team of “specialised officers” acting on information from the public and investigation outcomes identifying offenders and “putting a dent” in the property crime market.
“The public are our eyes and ears in the community and help police to detect, deter and disrupt property crime through good information they supply, which leads us to make these types of arrests,” he said.
“We are committed to curbing property crime in our community and will continue to pursue anyone who commit offences, with further arrests expected.”
Investigations are continuing.
