Richard Charles Stokes-Thomas in court for damaging The Goat nightclub

While being escorted outside a Central Queensland nightclub by security, a drunk man lashed out, threatening one of the guards and smashing a glass door at the venue.

While being escorted outside a Rockhampton nightclub by security, a drunk man lashed out, threatening to kill one of the guards and smashing a glass door at the venue, a court has heard.

Richard Charles Stokes-Thomas, 30, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 29 to one count of wilful damage.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Sarah Rowe said security at The Goat on East St were escorting Stokes-Thomas out of the venue on May 14 about 12.30am when he became aggressive and threatened to kill one of the security guards.

Senior Constable Rowe said while being escorted by security, Stokes-Thomas took several steps back, turned towards the side entrance glass door of the business and punched it, causing the glass to break.

She said $500 restitution was sought.

Stokes-Thomas told the court he was intoxicated at the time of the offending.

“I take full responsibility for my actions,” he said.

He was fined $500 and ordered to pay $500 restitution.

A criminal conviction was not recorded.
