A teenager banned from a Rockhampton nightclub climbed the side of a building to get inside before running across multiple rooftops and climbing the side of a multi-storey car park after being spotted by police.

Jason Raymond Maxwell Watson, 19, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 29 to one count each of unregulated high-risk activities, drink driving and driving without a licence.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Sarah Rowe said security at The Goat on East St waved down police on May 13 at 11pm and stated they had seen Watson, who was banned from the nightclub, attempting to gain entry by climbing the side of the building.

Senior Constable Rowe said Watson had climbed onto the roof and that police had told him to stop.

She said Watson then ran across multiple rooftops and climbed up the side of Kern Arcade car park, where he was arrested by police.

The court heard Watson was also caught drink driving without a driver’s licence on May 20.

Senior Constable Rowe said police were conducting patrols on East St at 11.25pm when they saw a driver revving the engine of a car, which pulled into a car park in the centre of the road.

She said police approached the driver’s side and asked for his driver’s licence which he said he didn’t have and added that he wasn’t driving and was just sitting in the car.

She said checks revealed Watson’s driver’s licence was disqualified for three months in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on March 1 for drink driving.

She said Watson had a blood-alcohol content reading of .087 and that he told police he had drunk a six pack of apple cider.

Defence lawyer Ashley Reynolds said her client had been attending the Alcohol and Other Drugs Service and Helem Yumba CQ Healing Centre.

Watson was ordered to probation for 12 months and disqualified from driving for two years and six months with convictions recorded.
