A teen has been charged with multiple offences for his alleged involvement in a string of armed robberies across Central Queensland.
The Koongal man, 18, was found by police on Tuesday, November 21, and charged after investigations were launched into a number of incidents allegedly involving three males which started on Sunday night.
It’s alleged about 8.30pm Sunday, November 19, a 31-year-old woman walked to her car at Stockland Rockhampton when she was approached by the man and two other unknown males, before she was grabbed and threatened with a knife.
She was not injured.
The men allegedly made off with her purse and her car, a white Mitsubishi ASX with the registration 250GMO.
The car was then allegedly used in a number of other offences, including a fuel drive-off at a Rockhampton service station.
It is further alleged the man and the other men went to the BP service station at Marmor about 1.30am on Monday and threatened staff with a bottle while demanding cigarettes and money.
The Mitsubishi was later seen in Gladstone in the early hours of Monday morning, allegedly evading police before being discovered dumped in Calliope.
Another two vehicles were allegedly stolen nearby.
One was a white dual cab 2013 Isuzu D-Max ute, registration 633WBX, and the other was a red 2014 Mitsubishi outlander wagon, with registration 826WJA.
Capricorn Crime Group Detective Acting Inspector Luke Peachey said police believed the incidents were linked to another break-and-enter at Calliope where two cars were stolen nearby after the car was dumped.
Detective Acting Inspector Peachey said the other two vehicles were believed to have been used in further alleged property offences in Biloela.
He said police investigations were ongoing.
“It’s absolutely disgusting, this could have been anyone’s mother, sister, aunty of friend,” he said.
“It was very scary for that young woman and we will make sure we put the support around her and likewise for those staff at the BP and other break and enters.”
Det Act Insp Peachey urged the community not to approach the remaining two men if they were seen out and about.
“We ask the public if they are sighted to call triple-0 straight away and let us take these people into custody,” he said.
“We know there are family members out there, we know there are friends out there who will recognised who these boys are and, we hope, we are contacted before anyone else is hurt.”
The 18-year-old Koongal man was charged with two counts of armed robbery, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of stealing.
He is expected to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 22.
Police are continuing their investigations to identify and locate the other two men.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
