An elderly man has suffered facial injuries after being held at knifepoint in an alleged armed robbery in Rockhampton.

Queensland Police Service has revealed the 73-year-old man was sitting in his car at a park along Glenmore Road, Park Avenue on Rockhampton’s northside when the shocking incident unfolded.

Initial investigations indicate around 11.30pm on Friday, March 3, two people unknown to the man approached him as he sat in his car, and after an altercation, held him at knifepoint.

After stealing the man’s keys the alleged offenders fled on foot toward Knight Street.

The victim, a Koongal man, sustained facial injuries and was taken to Rockhampton Base Hospital for treatment.

Detectives are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision from Glenmore Road between 11pm and 11.45pm to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
