A man could be heard screaming in Rockhampton’s CBD on Tuesday evening after an alleged assault at the popular Oxford Hotel.
About 6pm emergency services were called to the pub on the corner of East and Denham streets after reports a man’s face had been cut by glass.
A Morning Bulletin reporter at the scene could hear yelling and screaming coming from the venue as paramedics treated a man for cuts to the face and police searched for his alleged attackers.
It is understood the man suffered cuts to his left cheek, left ear and above his left eye in an alleged assault, where a glass smashed in his face, and was transported to Rockhampton Hospital for further treatment.
Reports suggest those responsible for the alleged attack fled toward Quay Street and were being tracked by police.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed police responded to reports of an assault at a licenced premises on Denham and East streets in Rockhampton CBD around 6pm.
“A man sustained minor injuries, investigations remain ongoing. There is no further information at this time,” she said.
It comes after a man faced court on Monday after allegedly smashing a schooner glass in a woman’s face as she walked past to leave the Oxford Hotel on Friday, October 21.
