A Yeppoon mother, who receives medicinal marijuana every fortnight and was busted with an illicit amount of the drug during a police search of her home, claims she sourced the drug because her script was delayed and she had run out.

Natasha Louise Green, 41, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on May 11 to one count of possessing dangerous drugs.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said police searched Green’s home on Ocean Park Ave, Yeppoon, on March 30 at 4.30pm and found a clip seal bag containing about 4g of illicit marijuana in her bedroom.

Police also found prescription marijuana.

Sergeant Dalton said Green told police she bought the illicit drug from an unknown person.

Defence lawyer Ken Spinaze said his client, who had two children, received about 40g or less of medicinal marijuana per fortnight on her script, which was divided between daytime and night-time usages.

Mr Spinaze said at the time of the police search, his client had sourced some of her own daytime marijuana because her script had been delayed and she had run out.

“She was expecting another script very soon,” he said.

“She uses it to calm herself in socially awkward and stressful situations.”

Green was ordered to a six-month $500 good behaviour bond with drug diversion.

No criminal conviction was recorded.
