A young Capricorn Coast mum has taken steps to change her life after being busted in a police drug raid, a court has heard.

Kodie Jo Love, 23, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on May 4 to possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Kevin Ongheen said on March 17, police executed a search warrant at a Byfield residence.

Sgt Ongheen said during that search, police found a total of 125.6g of cannabis and a pipe used to smoke the drug.

The court heard Love had drug offending on her criminal history.

Solicitor Krissy Cummins said Love was receiving a parenting payment and she suffered from Spina bifida as well as other conditions.

Ms Cummins said Love was using cannabis for pain relief and since being charged by police, she had been prescribed medicinal cannabis.

“So she has taken steps... she tells me that that is working for her and that she won’t go back (to offending),” Ms Cummins said.

Before handing down penalty, Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale noted the amount of cannabis that Love had been caught with was a “significant” amount.

Ms Beckinsale fined Love $850 and a conviction was recorded.
