A motorcycle rider has died after single vehicle crash at Banana, north west of Bundaberg overnight.

Police said that at 9.20pm a motorcycle was travelling along Letchford Road when it left the road and crashed into a tree.

The rider and sole occupant, a 37-year-old Theodore man, died at the scene. It’s the second fatality in two days on regional Queensland roads after the death of a 70-year-old man in a crash at Apple Tree Creek, between Maryborough and Bundaberg on Wednesday.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are ongoing.

Any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam vision that could assist with investigations, is urged to come forward.

The crash comes after a woman has sustained a “significant” leg injury in a crash between Rockhampton and Gladstone. Emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle crash about 1.07pm at Raglan, where a car crashed into a tree on the Bruce Highway.
