Shocking footage has emerged of a woman ploughing her SUV into a teenage fist fight outside a busy Bundaberg shopping centre, striking a 14-year-old boy in an alleged attempt to break up the brawl.
A video circulating on TikTok shows a group of teenagers cheering as two boys engage in a bruising physical altercation on the Barolin St side of Hinkler Central shopping centre on Monday, April 29.
A white Subaru SUV is then seen veering off the road and into the teens, striking one of them.
Police on Thursday confirmed a 51-year-old North Haven woman has been fined for careless driving and failing to exercise due care and attention.
“Initial investigations indicate the woman allegedly observed two teenage boys engaged in a physical altercation as she was driving a Subaru Outback on Short St around 4pm,” a police spokeswoman said.
“It is alleged the woman left the road and drove towards them to stop the fight, hitting a 14-year-old Bargara boy with her vehicle.”
Police said the boy sustained minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene, but witnesses reported he may have suffered broken ribs.
A verbal altercation between the woman, the teens and witnesses followed, during which a rock was allegedly thrown at the car.
Police investigations are ongoing.
