A recidivist offender has performed vile acts described as “grotesque morality” in the lounge of a university accommodation.

CCTV footage captured Andrew Arthur Bamford masturbating anally for 15 minutes inside a residential college at CQ University in Rockhampton on the evening of February 23.

Rockhampton Magistrates Court heard the masturbation was intended to intimidate a female, with Bamford also breaking furniture.

CCTV footage also captured him illegally entering a dwelling and performing indecent acts on a patio.

Police prosecutor Sergeant David Longhurst said the facts were “grotesque morality” with Bamford, who was on parole at the time of committing the latest offences, having a history of breaking into residences.

Bamford’s criminal record spans 18 pages.

Defence lawyer Brendan Gimbert said his client had a diagnosis of autism, anxiety and depression and his main issue was drugs.

He said Bamford had spent five-months in a Lives Lived Well rehabilitation facility and had managed to stay away from drugs, however he was homeless upon release and returned to drugs.

Mr Gimbert said his client had struggled with methamphetamine use since his parents died in 2014 and he did not recall much of the indecent acts.

Bamford pleaded guilty to nine charges including enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence as well as two counts of indecent acts.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale advised Bamford to stay away from drugs, including alcohol, as they led to out-of-control behaviour and jail.

She sentenced him to six-months jail, declared 60 days presentence custody with immediate parole eligibility.

Ms Beckinsale also placed him on probation for two years.

Convictions were recorded.
