A Maserati that was seized in a drug raid in Rockhampton in September 2022 has sold at a public auction for a cheap $12,000.
The 2005 Quattroporte SportsGT sedan along with a Holden Commodore and ute was seized after a search warrant for a drug investigation was executed by police at a Clifton Street, Berserker property on September 1, 2022.
During the search, police allegedly located cocaine, pseudoephedrine (a drug used in cold medicines and ingredient used to manufacture methamphetamines) and the vehicles.
At the time, a 37-year-old Glendale man was charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, possession of proceeds of crime and possessing relevant substances, along with six counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts each of possess tainted property and possess utensils.
The Maserati was listed for online auction by Tomkins Auctioneers.
In the advertising details, it stated “QPS – forfeitures to state”, and that the vehicle ran when connected to jump leads.
Bidding began on March 31 and the starting bid was $10,000.
The vehicle attracted 55 bids with the final bid placed on April 4, for $12,000.
According to one car site, privately listed cars of that model and year sell for between $46,000 and $54,000.
