A man’s “tirade of abuse” towards his ex-partner has been revealed in a shocking Central Queensland domestic violence case.

The man in his 40s, who by law cannot be named, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on October 13 to three counts of breaching a domestic violence order.

The court heard that the order involved the man’s ex-partner and also children.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Kevin Ongheen said on September 16, the woman had to drive one of the children to a specialist’s appointment.

“The only car for her to drive was the defendant’s work vehicle,” Sgt Ongheen said.

Sgt Ongheen said when the woman was returning from the appointment, the car lost acceleration and she pulled over and called the man.

The prosecutor said after the man arrived at the scene, he started abusing the woman and yelled: “You’re a dumb c---, probably just out of fuel.”

Sgt Ongheen said the man’s “tirade of abuse” continued.

He said the man grabbed at the woman’s arm to usher her out of the vehicle and she flinched, telling the man she was scared of him.

The man told the woman he was not going to hit her and the vehicle was not hers to take.

“And (he told her) that nothing was hers to take because she hadn’t earnt anything through their entire marriage,” Sgt Ongheen said.

“The (man) told her she deserved nothing and he was going to leave her on the side of the road.”

Sgt Ongheen said the child was present throughout the incident.

In relation to the second charge, Sgt Ongheen said the man fixed the vehicle and they all drove back to the woman’s residence.

The man apologised to the woman and told her she “didn’t deserve to be spoken to that way”.

The man left.

But a short time later, the man and the woman were texting when the man said: “I’m full of steroids, I can’t help I want sex. That’s what happens when you take this much, sorry.”

The man then texted: “I’ll fill your ute up for a quickie and I’ll stop thinking about it.”

Sgt Ongheen said the man’s offer was declined.

In relation to the third charge, Sgt Ongheen said the man told the woman he was going to cancel all insurances, as well as a Telstra account.

The man then asked for the woman’s phone back “as he paid for it”.

During the afternoon he attended the woman’s residence and took the phone from her.

That night, a text message was sent from the woman’s phone to her mother.

“It was an explicit photo of the (woman),” Sgt Ongheen said.

“The photo was of the (woman) and it looks like she is snorting drugs from a mirror.

“A further text message was sent to the (woman’s) boss. It was saying that the (woman) had no qualifications and that the (woman) was dealing drugs from her workplace.”

Sgt Ongheen said the next day, the man returned the woman’s phone and she noticed her Snapchat account had been accessed where messages were sent to her child’s friend “pretending to be her”.

“The messages to a male (aged 14) say ‘let’s get lit...I like toys, I’ll teach you a good time.”

Sgt Ongheen said the young male declined and a message was sent to him saying: “I’ll suck on your little D.”

After these discoveries, the woman contacted police.

The court heard the man had drug offences on his criminal history but no previous offences of domestic violence.

Representing himself in court, the man told Acting Magistrate Ron Muirhead that he worked in the mines and the domestic violence offences were a case of his emotions getting the better of him.

Mr Muirhead placed the man on 18 months’ probation with conditions and did not record a conviction.
