A Central Queensland man has faced court for methamphetamine possession just two months after being convicted of failing to comply with strict reporting conditions as a registered child sex offender.
Rodney Eric Blanchard, 29, pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on October 12 to possessing methamphetamines and a glass pipe used to smoke the drug.
Police Prosecutor Kelvin Boyd said about 10.40am on September 3, Criminal Investigation Branch detectives executed a search warrant at Blanchard’s Theodore residence.
Mr Boyd said after police found the glass pipe, Blanchard told them that he had used it the previous night to smoke ice.
During the search police also found .5g of methamphetamines in a clip-seal bag.
“He (Blanchard) admitted it was all that he had left,” Mr Boyd said.
A solicitor said Blanchard was working as a labourer at a Theodore mill.
“He is remorseful for his actions,” the solicitor said.
Before handing down penalty, Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale noted that Blanchard had a previous drug offence on his history from 2019 and she gave him some advice.
“You’ve got work and with your history there, you need to keep out of trouble,” Ms Beckinsale said.
Ms Beckinsale fined Blanchard $500 and a conviction was recorded.
