Man charged with public nuisance after Byfield General Store incident

A Central Qld store is closed as they recover from a “security breach” they say has left them “shaken”.

A post on the Facebook page for the store in the small community near Yeppoon states it was “forced to close” on Monday, February 24 because of a “security breach”.

Miki Kovacevic from Byfield General Store alleged in a Facebook post on Sunday, February 23 that “a brazen assault’ “occurred on our front doorstep this afternoon”.

“This has shaken up our staff and ourselves,” she posted.

“We will be taking a moment to figure out if there is a way that we can move forward from this.”
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said they received reports of a fight at the premises about 2.30pm on Sunday.
A 52-year-old Byfield man has been charged with one count of commit public nuisance at a licensed premises and is due to appear in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 14.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said one man was checked for head injuries but did not want to be taken to hospital.
