A woman, recently in trouble with the law for her naked antics in a McDonald’s toilet and shoplifting, has returned to court - this time for burglary.

Jessica May Purcell, 26, was first sentenced early last month for one count of public nuisance after the McDonalds incident where she flooded the disabled toilet at the George Street store while nude, along with two stealing offences where she stole clothes from an East Street business.

The mother-of-two, who has an 8.5 page criminal record including drug and property offending, was back in Rockhampton’s watch house on March 20 after being charged with burglary, entering premises and committing an indictable offence and three stealing offences.

Police prosecutor Corey O’Connor told Rockhampton Magistrates Court Purcell, who had been before the court six times in the past three months, gained entry to the burglary victim’s residence an hour after they left on August 22, 2022, by a locked door.

He said she carried out “an untidy search” throughout the dwelling, taking 30 pairs of earrings, 20 necklaces and three iPads.

Mr O’Connor said Purcell’s identity was revealed through fingerprints she left at the scene.

He said when police spoke with her about it on March 19, 2024, she couldn’t remember specifics but admitted she had carried out many burglaries about that time.

Her other charges this week were in relation to stealing a key from the Motel Lodge in Allenstown from the drop off box and using it to access a room, along with stealing an ice cream from a service station and coffee from Coles Express.

Defence lawyer Brendan Gimbert said his client previously had “some extensive periods of homelessness” but now had stable accommodation with a friend.

Magistrate Cameron Press said Purcell had a “worrying criminal history” for property offending as well as drugs.

Purcell was on probation, parole and subject to suspended prison terms at the time of offending.

She pleaded guilty to one count of burglary, one of enter premises and commit an indictable offence and three of stealing.

Mr Press sentenced her to 12 months prison, wholly suspended and operational for one year, along with extending operational periods of her other suspended sentences by one month each, placed her on probation for 12 months and ordered her to pay $200 restitution for the motel key.

Convictions were recorded.
