A Central Queensland man busted with meth and cannabis while on three suspended jail sentences for drug offending, has avoided being sent to prison.

Jake Thomas Louis, 30, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on October 12 to four drug charges, including two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said at 8pm on June 17, police at Yeppoon intercepted Louis driving on Farnborough Road.

During a search of the vehicle, police found 1.4g of methamphetamine, 1.25g of cannabis, a glass pipe with burn marks on it and digital scales.

The court heard that Louis had a two-page criminal history.

Solicitor Rebecca Harris said Louis had lost his job because of these latest charges and he had sought informal support for his drug issues from his mother, who was a retired psychologist.

Ms Harris said Louis was not employed at the moment but he had a good work history.

Magistrate Grace Kahlert noted that Louis had recognised he had a drug problem and sought help.

She activated all three suspended sentences (six months total) and gave Louis immediate release on parole.

She also placed him on 18 months’ probation with conditions including drug testing.

Convictions were recorded.
