A man caught supplying cocaine only 6.6 per cent pure at the Lost and Found Music Festival in Rockhampton has avoided jail.

Darrius Iziah Jamas Mann, 27, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton District Court on October 26 to supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing tainted property.

Crown prosecutor Caleb Theunissen said police were patrolling the Lost and Found Music Festival in Rockhampton on October 15, 2022 when they saw suspicious behaviour outside the men’s toilets and spoke with a man who told them he had paid Mann $350 for 1g of cocaine.

Mr Theunissen said Mann had initially denied he had drugs on him but later told police he had cocaine in his pocket.

He said there were four clip seal bags containing 3.485g of cocaine.

However, he added that only 0.23g of the cocaine was pure.

He said $1040 cash was also found in Mann’s wallet.

Defence barrister Jordan Ahlstrand said the purity of the cocaine was only 6.6 per cent and 1g of cocaine that was supplied had the same purity.

Judge Jeff Clarke sentenced Mann to eight months prison, wholly suspended for 12 months.

Criminal convictions were recorded.
