Cody Anthony Addley sentenced in court for contravening police banning notice

A young man attempted to enter the Giddy Goat Bar in Rockhampton despite being subjected to a police banning notice, claiming he was unaware when it ended.

Cody Anthony Addley, 20, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on June 7 to one count each of contravening a police banning notice and contravening a direction or requirement of police.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Sarah Rowe said Addley was issued with a one month police banning notice from the Rockhampton Safe Night Precinct on March 26 after committing a public nuisance offence.

Senior Constable Sarah Rowe said Addley attempted to gain entry to the Giddy Goat Bar on April 2 at 9.57pm and left when he was denied entry.

She said police spoke to Addley on May 2, where he told them he was unaware when the police banning notice ended.

She said he was issued with an identifying particulars notice but failed to attend Rockhampton Watchhouse to provide his identifying particulars within seven days.

Defence lawyer Samantha Legrady said her client, who worked as a roofer, left the venue when he was asked and was “extremely sorry”.

Addley was fined $900 with no criminal convictions recorded.
