A mother who left a Yeppoon hair salon on Christmas Eve without paying after getting more than $200 worth of hair and beauty work done, claims there was “bad blood” between her and the hairdresser.

Christie Maree Williamson, 36, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on June 22 to one count of stealing.

Police prosecutor Sergeant David Longhurst said Williamson attended Wavelengths for Hair, a hair salon on James St in Yeppoon, on December 24, 2022 at 12.20pm and had her hair done and foils for $205.

Sergeant Longhurst said Williamson also had an eyebrow wax for $11.50, tint for $6.50, grabbed silver earrings worth $5 and left the hair salon without paying.

He said Williamson had paid the business and that no restitution was sought.

“It is accepted that payment has been made,” he said.

“It was Christmas Eve, there are financial pressures, that’s not an excuse.”

Defence lawyer Joanne Madden said her client, who had three children, was not happy on that day.

“There had been some bad blood between her and the hairdresser,” Ms Madden said.

She said her client acted “very foolishly” by walking out of the hair salon and not paying.

Williamson was fined $450 with a criminal conviction recorded.
