A fight that broke out between two men in a Rockhampton Woolworths exploded out on the street after they were kicked out of the shopping centre, causing onlookers to flag down police.
Rockhampton Magistrates Court heard Blake Zane Thomasson, 20, was involved in a physical fight with another man outside Northside Plaza, near the corner of Richmond and Musgrave Streets, on February 20 at 5.10pm.
Police prosecutor Courtney Brown said the disturbance caused several people to be alarmed at the nearby Rockhampton Mazda dealership, resulting in passers-by flagging down police.
Ms Brown said police separated Thomasson, who was shirtless, from the other man and that Thomasson continued to act aggressively toward the other man and yelled, “He wants to have a f***ing go. Grow up c**t. F**k off.”
She said the fight started in Woolworths, where they crossed paths.
“Security escorted the parties from the shopping centre,” she said.
“They engaged in a heated verbal argument
“Security sent the defendant away in the opposite direction of the other male.”
Ms Brown said Thomasson saw the man on Richmond St, asked his friend to stop the vehicle, saying he “could sort it out”, and that a physical altercation ensued.
She said Thomasson told police that he hit the man because he was allegedly assaulted.
Defence lawyer Samantha Legrady said he wants referrals in relation to anger management and “knows he needs to walk away”.
Thomasson pleaded guilty to committing public nuisance and was ordered to probation for nine months.
No criminal conviction was recorded.
