Police are searching the drivers of a stolen car that was used to smash into two North Rockhampton businesses on Monday morning, leaving a trail of destruction and a hefty clean-up bill.
Detectives believe a silver Holden Arcadia station wagon stolen from a Mills Avenue, Frenchville home on April 14 was used to ram raid the AFS pharmacy on the corner of Dean and Vallis streets Frenchville about 3.25am, totally destroying the front of the store.
Nothing was stolen from the pharmacy as it is believed the alleged offenders could not located the register.
The stolen vehicle fled the scene and at 3.40am was used to ram raid the front of the BWS drive-through bottle shop on Farm Street in the next suburb over, Norman Gardens.
Again, extensive damage was caused to the business.
Detectives say a quantity of alcohol and the till were stolen from the store and the offenders fled the scene in another vehicle, believed to be a white hatchback.
The stolen Holden Arcadia was left at the scene and has since been towed for police forensic examination.
After a major clean-up, the pharmacy was able to reopen to the public on Monday afternoon.
“We are happy to announce that The Friendly Pharmacy on Dean Street is now back open and operating as usual after a break-in last night – however temporarily our entrance is now around the side via Vallis Street,” AFS Pharmacies Rockhampton wrote on Facebook.
“We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time, and we look forward to serving you with the same quality service and care that we have always provided.”
It is not the first time the business has been targeted by offenders, with police revealing a fire extinguisher was used to smash in the front of the store on April 11.
Detectives have released footage in relation to the Monday ram raids and are appealing for anyone who has further information or relevant video or CCTV footage in the Frenchville and Norman Gardens areas between 3am and 4am Monday to contact police.
