Man seriously injured after truck, car collide on Bruce Highway, south of Rockhampton

A man continues to fight for life after a serious crash that left three people injured, one critically, when a truck and alleged stolen Mitsubishi Lancer collided on the Bruce Hwy.

Three people were hospitalised and a car driver was in a critical condition in a crash between a vehicle and truck that closed the Bruce Highway at 2.54am at Raglan, 55km south-east of Rockhampton, crashed on the highway, in the vicinity of Fitzroy Street.

A man continues to fight for life after a serious crash that left three people injured, one critically, when a truck and alleged stolen Mitsubishi Lancer collided on the Bruce Hwy at Raglan.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said police were called to the accident between a truck and alleged stolen car at 2.54am on Friday about 55km south-east of Rockhampton.

The vehicles crashed on the highway, in the vicinity of Fitzroy St.

Both lanes of the highway were initially closed and power lines were brought down while the highway was reduced to one lane for several hours.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said a man in his 20s from the car suffered life-threatening injuries.

A female teenager, also from the car, had abdominal pain but was stable, while a male occupant from the truck had back injuries.

All three were transported to Rockhampton Hospital.

A Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service spokeswoman said on Monday the man in his 20s remained in a critical condition.

She said the female teenager had been discharged from hospital and the other man was stable.

A QPS spokesperson said the white Mitsubishi Lancer was allegedly reported stolen from a Moore Park Beach property in the Bundaberg region on June 25.

It is understood the 26-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were both from Chinchilla.

The spokesperson said the vehicle was towed from the scene and that the woman was currently assisting police.

Investigations are ongoing.

Queensland Rail confirmed the crash forced the cancellation of the tilt train from Rockhampton and travellers on the Spirit of Queensland were no longer able to continue their journey.

QR organised buses for the passengers.

It is understood about 400 passengers using the trains were impacted by the truck blocking the railway and the damage done to the tracks.

Later that day, three more people were injured after yet another crash between cars and a truck in the Rockhampton region.

The latest crash happened at the intersection of Boongary and Kabra Roads about 7.13pm Friday.

Three patients were transported to Rockhampton Hospital in stable conditions with minor injuries.
