Man in his 20s transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital after single-vehicle car rollover

A man in his 20s was transported in a serious but stable condition to Rockhampton Base Hospital following a crash in South Yaamba last night.

RACQ Capricorn Rescue was tasked by Queensland Health to attend a single-vehicle rollover on South Yaamba Road, approximately 26 kilometres North-East of Rockhampton.

The man was the sole occupant of the 4wd utility and was heading north on South Yaamba Road.

The driver was lying on the ground out of the ute when Queensland Ambulance Service arrived on scene.

He lost control of the ute sliding off the road, initially hitting a tree which rolled the ute once coming to rest on its wheels.

The Rescue 300 Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) also arrived by road and initially assisted QAS stabilising the patient for head injuries and lower limb fractures.

A short time later, Rescue 300 arrived on scene with the on-board flight doctor.

Once on scene, the doctor assisted by QAS and the CCP further stabilised the patient for air transport to Rockhampton Base Hospital.

The man was transported in a serious but stable condition.
